Our Mission. Our Vision. Our History.
What we are providing for Kansas City.
EncoreKC! Foundation has a unique niche providing something no one else is doing -- reviving the musical aspirations that many of us had when we were younger -- but were often abandoned during our all-consuming lives of working and raising families. The energy of our organization just keeps building. The overflowing ideas of our director and visionary, Pam Smith Kelly, are taking us in such surprising directions.
We have a new subgroup called ACT II that is available for members of our main EncoreKC! Chorus. ACT II rehearses an hour before the main chorus on Mondays and is designed to be available for community outreach performances.
For the general public, we offer a brass ensemble as well as a music reading class for anyone -- whether they are in the main EncoreKC! Chorus or not -- to further develop their music reading skills. (Those who have never taken a music class in their lives are welcome, too.) We have more in the planning stages, so bookmark our website and come back often to see (and hear) our next ENCORE!
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Although we are a non-audition choir, you will find yourself brushing elbows with former music teachers, accompanists, choral directors, soloists, instrumentalists, and even those who have never had a music lesson in their lives (but still love to sing -- and sing well!). Members tell us that this feels like a family. Singing itself is therapeutic. One of most-cited things people miss after retiring is interacting with people. Another thing people miss is being around younger generations. Choral singing has the added benefit of being a social activity since we not only interact with each other, but also with audiences. We interact with younger musicians by sharing our stage and giving them opportunities to hone their stage presence.
EncoreKC! is a total adrenaline rush!
