MUSIC READING CLASS

Are you 50+ and have ever wished you could pick up a piece of music and sing it through without listening to someone else sing it first? This sight reading class will give you a good start. There's a lot more involved in sight reading than you might think! Level 1 will cover bass and treble clef staffs - names of notes, the different kinds of notes, reading different rhythm combinations, time signatures, key signatures, how to tell what line you're supposed to follow and how to use solfege to learn about intervals. And any other questions that you may have!  Barbara Douglas, instructor.

The Music Reading Class will meet on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.-11:00 a.m. beginning September 10 and run for 10 weeks.  Cost for Music Reading class is $25.  Registration for the Music Class has closed for the Fall session.

UKULELE ENSEMBLE

Get ready to smile, laugh, and tap your foot while you make your own music delighting friends and family with your new talent.  Christoper Callender, who has played and performed with the KC Ukulele group for nearly 20 years, will teach this class.  There will be ten 45-minute classes at 6:00-6:45p.m. starting Monday September 9-November 11.  The format of the class will be relaxed, yet productive, as participants learn fundamentals and applying them to fun songs and music from popular Ukulele sites online.  Performances to be determined. Cost for Ukulele Class/Ensemble participation is $25.

The class requires a TENOR UKULELE and a limited number will be available to rent.  Or you can purchase one like this one on Amazon.
Registration for those 50+ was available July 22 - September 4 and has closed for the Fall season. Check back in November when registration will open for the Spring season that will start in early February.
