EncoreKC!
EncoreKC! is quickly becoming one of the most popular non-audition community music groups for singers and musicians in the Kansas City Metro Area for anyone over the age of 50. Since its first performance in 2019, it has been a rapidly-growing organization offering opportunities for choral singing, vocal ensembles (including small groups and soloists) and instrumental ensembles. Performances frequently feature guest conductors and composers and are accompanied by professional instrumentalists.
Monday morning rehearsal times, handicap-accessible rehearsal spaces and classrooms, as well as opportunities for socialization check all the boxes for these enthusiastic participants. As if that wasn't enough percs, EncoreKC! Foundation has made it affordable at just $50 per season by securing funding through donations and grants. It is in a niche of its own, providing unique opportunities for both retirees and upcoming retirees age 50+.
The EncoreKC! Foundation was created specifically for this age group to continue learning and performing a diverse repertoire of classical, broadway, traditional, popular, and newly-published works along with audience favorites. The flagship chorus averages about 70 members each 10-week season.
Founder and Artistic Director Pam Smith Kelly is driven by a vision to provide musical opportunities for anyone who is looking to continue their life experiences in music. New groups are being added each season, and the list now includes Act II (a select group of about 20 singers which is available for performance upon request), a brass ensemble, woodwind ensembles and a ukulele ensemble.
In addition to performance, EncoreKC! offers 10-week classes for members who want to learn to read music or simply to read music better. The bedrock of the organization includes trained music educators, conductors, accompanists and performers who lead and assist with sectional rehearsals, performances, ensembles and classes.
